Middle School Curriculum
Students will study Bible stories and other Biblical writings so they can grow in knowledge, wisdom, sensitivity and creativity. The Bible is the record of God’s acts and words. It helps us come to know Him, our world, and ourselves. Students will study characters and events so they can understand Bible themes and the literary, cultural, geographical, historical and linguistic dimensions of the Bible.
6th Grade- Old Testament: Creation to the rule of the Kings
7th Grade- Old Testament: The Kings and Prophets, Exile and Preparation for Messiah
8th Grade- New Testament: Christ’s ministry and the Early Church
History students will study people living in different times and places, from ancient history to present. Students will study how God’s hand effects the world and how the responses of people and nations to God effects history. Students will study characters and events so they can understand and interpret events, issues and developments within and across eras.

Core Curriculum Overview
Science focuses on the relationship between evidence and explanation in light of God’s sovereignty. Students learn and apply scientific truth from a Biblical perspective.
6th Grade – Physical Science: matter, force and motion, energy
7th Grade – Life Science: living systems, reproduction, ecosystems, diversity/adaptation
8th Grade – Earth Science: Earth’s surface, Earth’s waters, weather/climate, astronomy
Math is based on the fact that we live in an orderly and predictable world created by God. Students will learn foundational mathematical concepts and will develop problem-solving skills.

Language Arts
READING teaches students to identify ideas, points of view, and plot elements. Students will learn to differentiate fact and opinion, and will learn new words. 7th and 8th graders will study themes, foreshadowing, bias and flashback, and will use Latin vocabulary developments. Students will use the WRITING process to create descriptive, narrative, and expository compositions and will apply their skills to practical documents.

Expressive Arts uses various outlets of media, such as music, poetry, art, and drama to stimulate thinking, understanding and growth in response to the world God has given us. The arts nurture meaningful communication and a co-operative appreciation of others.
