In the spring of 1989, Beverly Hesser and Davette Fowler began praying about the need for a Christian school in Klamath Falls.  Just a few weeks later, their prayers were answered with the founding of Hosanna Christian School.  Over the next 12 years, the school met in local churches and grew to 240 students.

In April 2002, Hosanna fulfilled its dream of a new campus.  Through the generosity and hard work of many volunteers, Hosanna purchased a 40 acre parcel in the Gatewood community and constructed a 66, 336 sq. ft school building at a cost of $3.2 million.  Funding for this construction was made possible in part by a $500,000 grant from JeldWen.  The school’s monthly mortgage obligation is $18,000.

In September 2005 a library and two additional classrooms were added to accommodate increased enrollment.  The 9,000 sq. ft. state of the art gymnasium was completed in December 2005 with donations totaling $250,000.  Generous gifts from a recent donor will make construction of a performing arts stage in the southern end of our gymnasium a reality in 2010.  Additional classrooms were completed to house the new Middle School program in 2005.  Locker rooms and additional classrooms are currently nearing completion.

Developing the school’s campus grounds is underway.  Through the generous gifts and labor of school families, new playground facilities were installed in 2009 for both preschool and grade school aged children.  The school will soon break ground on a brand new soccer field.  Cost and labor for this field is being provided 100% by volunteers and the generous gifts of friends of Hosanna.  Hosanna’s soccer team was new last year and currently competes at Mike’s Field House at the Steens Sports Park.  They are eager to play on their home field next Spring.

The school is also working on an outdoor recreational area called the Quad.  The Quad will house outside recreational equipment including basketball hoops as well as eating facilities for the Middle School and High School students.  A common green area and walking trail will tie to this area and integrate with the Klamath City Parks Department development of property adjoining the school’s property to the North.

With the downstairs phase of construction complete, Hosanna is beginning work on an additional 25,000 sq ft of space in the upstairs portion of its new building.  This area will include a state of the art science laboratory, High School classrooms and lecture hall facilities.  Cost for this phase of construction is approximately $1 million.

An outdoor classroom, track and artificial turf field will complete development of the school’s building-side property.  Cost for this additional development is estimated at $900,000.
